Ecommerce catalog SEO

Shopify Product Page SEO

Rabbit SEO helps Shopify merchants audit product storefront pages at scale — then apply approved Theme App Embed storefront metadata, Product schema, and alt text. This is not the same as editing Shopify Admin Search engine listing fields.

Shopify App Store app Catalog-scale audits

No sales or ranking guarantees. Product SEO is one part of store growth.

Product pages are where shoppers land from search — yet many Shopify catalogs share duplicate SEO titles, thin descriptions, missing image alt text, and inconsistent Product schema. Rabbit SEO audits product storefront URLs and helps you apply approved Theme App Embed storefront fixes. It does not write Shopify Admin Search engine listing title/description fields — improve those in Admin yourself when needed.

What Rabbit SEO audits on Shopify product pages

Catalog-scale workflows — not one-product manual edits only.

Product title vs SEO title

The store-facing product name and the search-result SEO title are set separately on Shopify. We flag SEO titles that are missing, duplicated, over-long, or just mirror the product name.

Meta descriptions & copy

Review thin or generic descriptions and empty meta descriptions that do not explain what the product is, who it is for, or why it is different.

Heading structure

Check that each product page uses one clear H1 and a sensible heading hierarchy instead of theme-styled text with no semantic structure.

Image filenames & alt text

Flag product images with generic filenames (IMG_1234.jpg) and missing descriptive alt attributes that describe the product for search and accessibility.

Product schema consistency

Audit Product structured data so price and availability signals in schema stay consistent with what shoppers see on the page.

Canonicals & variant URLs

Check that variant and collection-scoped URLs canonicalize to the primary product URL, so duplicate variants do not split search signals.

Ecommerce keyword tracking

Track rankings for product and category search terms over time with keyword rank tracking.

Collection & internal links

Strengthen internal linking from collection pages to products and between related products so crawlers and shoppers can find them.

On-site review trust signals

Check whether product pages surface on-site trust content and well-formed review structured data. Rabbit SEO audits these signals — it does not collect or manage reviews.

A catalog-scale product SEO workflow

Audit storefront product URLs, then approve Theme App Embed storefront plans for supported meta, schema, and alt text — not Shopify Admin Search engine listing fields.

1
Connect your catalog

Install the app from the Shopify App Store. Rabbit SEO connects your store and audits publicly crawlable product and collection pages.

2
Audit every product

Each product page is scored for titles, meta, descriptions, headings, alt text, schema, and canonical/variant issues, then ranked by priority.

3
Review & approve fixes

Apply suggested on-page improvements you approve. The theme app embed can push approved storefront/optimizer fixes. This is not the same as writing Shopify Admin “Search engine listing” product SEO fields via the Admin API.

4
Track keywords over time

Monitor rankings for product and category terms and re-audit as you add SKUs, so new products do not slip through without SEO basics.

What product SEO can and cannot do

Rabbit SEO improves the on-page signals you control. It is not a magic sales switch.

No ranking or sales guarantees

No tool can guarantee positions or revenue. Rankings depend on competition, demand, and factors outside any single app.

SEO takes time

Search engines re-crawl and re-evaluate pages gradually. Improvements compound over weeks and months, not overnight.

Not a replacement for good products

Clean SEO helps the right shoppers find you, but pricing, photography, reviews, and demand still drive conversions.

You stay in control

Rabbit SEO recommends and applies fixes you approve. It does not rewrite your whole catalog without review.

Theme embed — not Admin product SEO fields

Approved auto-fixes run through the Rabbit SEO Shopify theme app embed / storefront optimizer path. Rabbit SEO does not claim to write Shopify Admin “Search engine listing” product title/description fields via the Admin API. Audit findings still help you improve those fields yourself when needed.

Not a reviews app

Rabbit SEO audits on-site trust signals and review structured data. It does not collect, moderate, or publish reviews.

Ongoing work as you add SKUs

New products need the same SEO basics. Re-audit regularly so growth does not reintroduce duplicate titles and missing alt text.

Shopify product page SEO FAQ

Rabbit SEO audits variant-related SEO signals across your catalog, including near-duplicate titles and descriptions created by variants and whether canonical tags point to the primary product URL. It does not create variants; it helps you consolidate signals so search engines focus on one main product page.

Shopify can expose the same product through variant query strings and collection-scoped paths, and by default it sets a canonical tag to the main product URL. Rabbit SEO checks whether those canonical tags point to the primary product URL so duplicate paths consolidate onto one page.

Google's Product structured data expects a product name plus an offer, review, or aggregateRating, with fields like price, priceCurrency, and availability for offers. Rabbit SEO checks whether Product schema is present and well-formed so required fields are not missing, but any values must match what is visible on the page.

Write concise, descriptive alt text that states what the product image shows, using natural wording rather than stuffed keywords. Rabbit SEO flags product images that are missing alt text so you can add descriptions that help accessibility and image search.

Google may rewrite titles or generate snippets. Rabbit SEO can apply approved storefront embed metadata; it does not write Shopify Admin Search engine listing fields, and it cannot force Google to display any snippet verbatim.

Improve Shopify product page SEO at catalog scale

Install the app or audit your store — apply approved storefront embed meta, schema, and alt text. Admin Search engine listing fields stay in Shopify Admin.
